A number of Centers reopened this month, and even more announced plans for opening in October. In the November issue
of Fun Facts, we'll highlight what's working and what's not as they ease their way into this first phase of reopening. If you are with one
of those open Centers and can share a sentence or two about how it's going, we'd love to hear from you so we can share it in Fun Facts.

In the meantime, for this issue, we're drawing attention to how well you're communicating with your members about
your ongoing services and upcoming plans. Through voice, text and email, the Network made outbound
contact with nearly 500,000 individual seniors
in September. Wow!

Spreading the Word
Ol' Blue Eyes would be proud. You've haven't just started to spread the news, you sent out over
800,000 communication elements to nearly 500,000 participants through MySeniorCenter in September! Through a combination
of Voice Connect, the new texting functionality and even email (more on that below), you've done a great job of keeping your
participants informed and updated. Here's a breakout of how those bits of information were sent:
*We're close to launching an email function in MySeniorCenter that will allow you to quickly create and send
an email from anywhere in the product (like Voice Connect). It will also include automated event reminders that can
even show your Zoom links! We have a small group of Centers testing for us but could use a
few more. If you're interested in participating,
let us know.
Weather, and in particular, hurricanes, drought and wildfires, factored into nearly 50% of all Voice Connect broadcasts in September.
However, in all of the broadcasts the message was related to Senior Center-specific issues like reopening plans or upcoming programs.
Here's the breakout of the Voice Connect call topics in September:
Even though texting was just released in early September, an impressive 100,000+ messages have been sent out already! Many of
the earliest messages were sent to fellow staff members just testing it out, but as the month progressed, Centers started to use it for
group and individual communications with participants. Here are the broad categories of use in September:
- 10% of messages were checking on wellness to individuals or small groups
- 29% were direct communications with individuals
- Event invites made up 61% of text messages
Even though the conference call add-on was just released, the number of programs offered by week through that option has really
taken off. It's a great way to keep your participants engaged and socially connected, especially if they don't have access to your
streaming or other web-based programs. Here's a look at the week-by-week numbers through September 25th:
We've been collecting feedback about what works and what doesn't with conference calling and will continue to make enhancements. If you'd
like to share a funny or inspiring story about how you've used it with your participants,
we'd love to hear about it. If you want to learn more, check out the Call Me section on the left.
Thanks for everything you're doing to keep your participants fed and mentally, physically and socially engaged. If you have any
stories you want to share with us for next month's Fun Facts issue, please
send us a note.
Stay Safe and Healthy!
